The International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) estimates that global silicon wafer shipments will decrease by 2% this year to 12.174 billion square inches. As demand recovers next year, shipments are expected to rebound by about 10% to 13.328 billion square inches. inches.
 

SEMI stated in its new silicon wafer report that the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced processes will drive up the capacity utilization of global semiconductor wafer fabs; in addition, advanced packaging and high-bandwidth memory (HBM), etc. The production of new applications requires additional silicon wafers, including wafer carriers, interposers and small wafers, which will increase the demand for silicon wafers.
 

SEMI expects that as demand recovers, silicon wafer shipments are expected to rebound by about 10% in 2025 to 13.328 billion square inches and continue to grow until 2027.
 

SEMI estimates that silicon wafer shipments will reach 14.507 billion square inches in 2026, and are expected to further reach 15.413 billion square inches in 2027, surpassing the historical record of 14.565 billion square inches set in 2022.
