Among the more than 40 Taiwanese AI supply chain partners named by NVIDIA Huang Renxi in his COMPUTEX keynote speech on June 2, the only PCB manufacturer is UNIMICRON (3037), a major IC substrate manufacturer. Zeng Zizhang, chairman of UNIMICRON, also said, UNIMICRON is riding the wave of AI. There are opportunities for high-end carrier boards and thick PCB boards used in AI server motherboards. The proportion of AI products has increased faster than expected, and the proportion will be higher next year promote.
UNIMICRON said that AI started to develop from the cloud last year. UNIMICRON has been developing high-end carrier boards for many years. Currently, 10% of high-end carrier boards are related to AI, and it will be even higher next year.
In addition, the proportion of traditional PCB motherboards used in AI is expected to exceed 15% in the fourth quarter, and there are already many customers. Both of these will be important investment areas in the next few years.
As for the short term, UNIMICRON believes that there will be some growth in AI in the second half of the year, including cloud and edge terminals. It will grow rapidly from the second half to next year. Most of the carrier boards are ABF carrier boards and less BT.
