With the EU's carbon tariffs on the way, international brands committing to carbon neutrality, and Taiwan's carbon fee imminent, facing pressure from the domestic and international environment, carbon reduction is no longer a slogan, but has become the king of corporate sustainability. The Taiwan Circuit Board Association (TPCA) pointed out on the 13th that it released PCB energy conservation and carbon reduction guidelines to jointly respond to the global net zero issue with the industry and help the industry achieve independent energy conservation and low-carbon transformation.

The Taiwan Circuit Board Association said that it released the "Guidelines for Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction of PCB Factory Facilities and Process Equipment" in May, and will hold a "PCB High-Level Low-Carbon Forum" at the TPCA Hall on June 6. In addition to introducing this guideline, it will also Xinxing Electronics (3037), the leader in IC carrier boards, was invited to share its factory energy-saving practices.

The Taiwan Circuit Board Association said that the release of the guidelines symbolizes the net-zero promotion of the circuit board industry, from strategic planning to practical implementation. It is hoped that this will help Taiwan's circuit board industry consolidate its position as the world's number one in the new global net-zero sustainable track.

The Taiwan Circuit Board Association (TPCA) has also established a sustainable development committee and released the "Taiwan PCB Industry Low-Carbon Transformation Strategy" in March 2023, proposing three major strategies for low-carbon transformation: independent energy conservation, renewable energy, and responsible Carbon/carbon trading aims to achieve net-zero emissions in the PCB industry by 2050. Among the three major transformation strategies, green power procurement is the top priority, supplemented by legal carbon rights allocation and independent energy conservation to achieve corporate carbon reduction goals.

The Taiwan Circuit Board Association also said that after the release of the low-carbon transformation strategy report, it will launch ten major action plans to conduct independent energy-saving research on PCBs and conduct research on energy-saving and carbon-reducing technical guidelines based on factories and equipment in carbon emission hot spots. Since last year, we have been cooperating with the Institute of Machinery and Obstetrics of the Industrial Research Institute to compile the low-carbon actions of representative manufacturers and target key energy-consuming hotspots for improvement. On the factory side, air conditioning/ice water, air pressure, dust collection, lighting and boiler systems were selected. On the manufacturing side, electroplating, etching, drilling, lamination and other equipment were mainly selected. In addition to discussing the principles and practices of energy conservation and carbon reduction, it also uses a table matrix to briefly display the energy-saving potential, investment cost, implementation difficulty, impact on the process, impact on safety and other evaluation factors that will be encountered during the introduction of each project. And put forward the comprehensive evaluation index of each item.
