"Bloomberg" reported that the Italian authorities will invest 10 billion euros (approximately NT$348 billion) in the semiconductor industry, hoping to become one of the largest semiconductor production sites in Europe. Sources pointed out that Taiwan and South Korea are the targets of the Italian government to discuss cooperation.
"Bloomberg" quoted the Italian "ANSA" news agency as reporting that Italian Industry Minister Adolfo Urso confirmed that the ruling brother parties held a meeting in Pescara on the 28th, and the authorities would invest approximately 10 billion euros in the semiconductor industry. It hopes to become one of the largest semiconductor manufacturers in Europe.
Urso said, "In the next few weeks, we will release other equally important information." On the 21st of this month, he revealed to the media that he had assigned task teams to go to Taiwan and South Korea to discuss semiconductor projects, and emphasized, " This is a technical meeting, not political."
Reports pointed out that after the Italian government failed to persuade US chip manufacturer giant Intel to invest, Urso announced in March that Singapore startup Silicon Box would invest 3.2 billion euros to build a chip factory in northern Italy.
