In order to reduce the carbon emissions of the global semiconductor industry, SEMI International Semiconductor Industry Association and the Global Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC) jointly established the SCC Energy Collaborative (SCC-EC) to assist the Asia-Pacific region in eliminating low-carbon energy development .

Young Bae, a member of the Board of Directors of the Global Semiconductor Climate Alliance and the founder of the Global Semiconductor Climate Alliance Indirect Emissions Working Group and Global Business Director of DuPont Advanced Cleans Technologies, said that sharing resources to start this sustainable development work for the semiconductor industry is important for It is critical to achieve widespread use of low-carbon energy over the next five to ten years.

The newly established energy cooperation organization will introduce its founding corporate members at the COP28 United Nations Climate Change Conference. Young Bae pointed out that one of the priority projects currently confirmed by the Global Semiconductor Climate Alliance is to take relevant measures to address the slow progress of low-carbon energy in the Asia-Pacific region. Through plans and actions, SCC-EC will help accelerate the pace of investment in the future and help expand the use and proportion of low-carbon energy in the Asia-Pacific region.

SEMI Global Marketing Chief and Taiwan President Shi-Lun Tsao said that due to the huge scale and profound influence of the semiconductor industry in the global market, the semiconductor value chain and its downstream partners and customers play a pivotal role in increasing the use and proportion of low-carbon energy. , in order to achieve industrial carbon reduction goals, drastic strategies and actions must be taken. The purpose of SCC-EC's establishment is to focus on increasing the adoption speed and proportion of low-carbon energy.
