In an interview today, Archer, CEO of U.S. semiconductor equipment supplier Lam Research, said that the market demand for precision artificial intelligence (AI) silicon wafers will prompt companies such as TSMC to purchase more of Lam's equipment in the next three years.
Reuters reported that Lam Research held its first "Analyst Day" in New York in five years. During the two-and-a-half-hour event, senior executives discussed two new chip manufacturing tool technologies in detail, provided a market overview, and released the company's financial forecasts through 2028.
"(Artificial intelligence) could be the biggest fundamental technological revolution in our lifetime," said Tim Archer, an economist at the University of California, Berkeley.
With investors optimistic about the future outlook, Colin's stock price closed up about 1% today.
Lam Research, based in Fremont, California, supplies chip equipment to TSMC to produce the world's most advanced artificial intelligence and other processors.
Collin's business has been hit in recent years by a slowdown in capital spending by U.S. companies such as Micron due to memory price and supply gluts.
At the event, Collins Chief Financial Officer Douglas Bettinger said Collins' 2028 revenue is expected to be between $25 billion and $28 billion; adjusted earnings per share will be between $6 and $7. He said that by 2028, adjusted gross margin will reach about 50%.
