The Taiwan Institute of Research released the EPI Electricity Prosperity Index for June today. In June, the national industrial high-voltage and above electricity consumption increased by 1.82% compared with the same period last year. Benefiting from the continued strong demand from emerging applications such as artificial intelligence and high-efficiency computing, the semiconductor industry's electricity consumption hit a record high. A record high over the years, leading other terminal device-related industries to prosper and develop together. The country's industrial electricity consumption has grown steadily, and the overall industrial electricity boom signal has been rising yellow and red for two consecutive months.

In terms of Taipower's electricity consumption above high voltage, the overall industrial electricity consumption in June increased by 1.63% compared with the same period last year, of which the manufacturing electricity consumption increased by 1.95%. The overall manufacturing industry boom continued to recover.

Taiwan Institute of Technology analyzed that as the global economy gradually recovers, the demand for emerging technology applications such as AI and high-speed computing is rising strongly. International prosperity and trade are picking up, and exports and private investment are gradually improving. The demand for applications in emerging technology industries continues to be strong, driving up the recovery of international terminal demand, and the inventory of traditional industry supply chains continues to be replenished. In addition, the semiconductor industry's continued expansion of production capacity has boosted economic growth performance, and domestic economic growth continues to develop in a positive direction.

The National Taiwan Comprehensive Research Institute said that industrial electricity consumption across the country grew steadily in June, and export orders continued to rise four times in a row. The domestic business outlook is optimistic. Due to strong AI demand and a low base period in the same period last year, the economic growth rate in June is forecast to be 4.5%.

Looking at each industry, the manufacturing industry has accelerated its expansion due to demand for AI, high-performance computing, etc., the electronic technology industry has strong production momentum, the electricity consumption of electronic industries such as the semiconductor industry, computers, electronics and optical products industry has grown steadily, and the chemical materials industry and The growth of electricity consumption in traditional industries such as the steel industry continues to surge. In June, the overall electricity consumption in the national manufacturing industry increased by 2.44%. The growth rate is higher than the national industrial electricity consumption growth rate. It shows that the recovery of the manufacturing industry is relatively strong. The power consumption in the manufacturing industry is booming. The signal continues to show the yellow and red light of Ascension. Manufacturing export orders have grown for four consecutive months, and the overall manufacturing boom continues to recover.

The chemical materials industry benefited from the arrival of the peak industry season in the second quarter, as well as the Red Sea crisis and the Panama Canal drought, which pushed up chemical prices. Industry players accelerated replenishment of inventories, driving an increase in international demand. In addition, the chemical materials and fertilizer industries matched the needs of the semiconductor industry. Transformation, electricity consumption increased by 5.4% in June, the electricity boom signal continued to turn yellow and blue, and the industrial boom has bottomed out and is on the rise.

The steel industry has benefited from the rebound in raw material prices, which has driven up steel prices. Coupled with the gradual recovery of the international economic situation and mainland China's re-implementation of favorable policies to rescue the housing market, demand for steel has increased. Electricity consumption in the steel industry increased by 1.5% in June, and the power boom The signal continues to show a stable green light, and the steel industry is gradually improving.

Semiconductors have benefited from strong demand from applications such as AI, 5G, and high-performance computing. Domestic semiconductor manufacturers are almost fully loaded with advanced 3-nanometer and 5-nanometer processes, and their production capacity continues to expand. As China's semiconductor industry leads the world in high-end process technology, and at the same time boosts semiconductor-related groups and stimulates industrial recovery, the semiconductor industry's electricity consumption hit a record high in June, accounting for 23.6% of the country's industrial electricity consumption. Electricity grew by 5.8% compared with the same period last year, and the semiconductor industry continued to recover.

However, the recovery pace of the computer, electronic and optical products industry has slowed down. Taiwan Comprehensive Research Institute said that due to the booming demand for 5G, high-performance computing and cloud data services, as well as the continued expansion of emerging technology applications related to artificial intelligence, electricity consumption in the computer, electronic and optical products industry increased by 7.4% in June, and the power boom signal continued. The yellow and red lights of Ascension. However, for electronics and information communications products, orders for mobile phones and laptops were lower than expected, and the growth rate of export orders decreased. The pace of economic recovery in the computer, electronics and optical products industry slowed down.

However, the Taiwan Comprehensive Research Institute stated that although economic growth continued to perform well due to strong AI demand in June and a low base period in the same period last year, the current global uncertainty risk is still high and the international economic situation is changing rapidly, which will affect the subsequent performance of the domestic economy. , we must continue to follow up and observe and respond carefully.
